Refuse & Recycling

Domestic refuse and recycling in Wing is typically collected on Thursdays, sometimes Fridays when there's been a bank holiday.

A full list of collection dates is available on the AVDC website - Wing refuse & recycling collection dates.

• General refuse (green wheely bin) is collected weekly.
• Plastics, paper and cans (baskets) are collected fortnightly.
• Glass (box) is collected every 4 weeks.

If anyone needs additional free baskets and boxes they are available by contacting the waste office helpline on 01296 585510.

AVDC publish a Recycling made easy... leaflet which lists what can and can't be recycled in baskets and boxes.

Recycling banks are available in Wing at the top of Wantage Crescent and in the recreation ground car park.

The closest waste and recycling centres are :

• Rabans Close, Rabans Lane, Aylesbury HP19 8RS (map)

In addition clothes and shoes can also be recycled at the following locations:

• Tescos and Morrisons supermarkets, Leighton Buzzard
• Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre, Linslade
• Both Tescos supermarkets, Aylesbury

Bulky waste (e.g. sofas, fridges etc.) can also be collected, although a small fee applies. More info here.

AVDC Refuse Freighter

The freighter will be at the recreation ground on the following dates:

• 25 August 2010, 12 noon to 3.30 pm
• 28 October 2010, 7.30 am to 11 am
• 14 December 2010, 7.30 am to 11 am
• 03 March 2011, 7.30 am to 11 am

Please use this service with care and consideration. If the freighter is full please do not leave your rubbish on the ground as it will not be collected. This will be regarded as flytipping and you may be prosecuted.

Items NOT accepted: Any electrical items, clinical waste, car parts inc. batteries, tyres, exhaust and oil, hazardous waste (e.g. asbestos), commercial or business waste, building rubble, paints, liquids or garden chemicals.
